Welcome!
This is the homepage of the 5th District Independence Party, one of the most active local third party organizations in America. With ths support of 10-20% of the electorate and growing, we continue to be a catalyst for change in many of our issue campaign. Whether it is charter schools, public safety, public transportation or what have you, we are taking the steps to build a foundation of reform for our area. We also have built a welcoming platform and base for reform-minded candidates. I encourage you to learn more about our party and how to get involved.

Personal Responsibility
I can't emphasized enough how personal responsibility is so important in the Independence Party. Personal responsibility is one of our party principles and plays a role in our policies, procedures and platform.
What this means to you is that YOU are responsible for keeping yourself up to day on all party activities. Our funding for US mailing is limited. So you need to either email me or look at this web page regularly to know what is happening in your district.
I will do my part by making announcements on this 3rd CD web page. You do YOUR part by checking here often. I will use email to also keep you informed. YOUR responsibilty is to read your party emails when you receive tham.
As always, please email me if you have any questions or suggestions for the 3rd CD. I reply to all emails usually within one day. I hope to see you at a meeting or on the campaign trail soon.
-- Diane Goldman

"He's the smartest guy in Congress, but he insists on voting his conscience instead of party."- Gerald Ford on John B. Anderson, the founder of the modern Independent movement.
John Anderson was hosted by George Soule and Lisa McDonald at their home in south Minneapolis in 2006. Mr. Anderson visited Minneapolis to show his support for Tammy Lee, 5th District Independence candidate for U.S. Congress. George was the Anderson for President Campaign Chair back in 1980.
Mr. Anderson told some wonderful stories. What was most interesting was that he was doing very well in the polls until the 1980 version of the Republican/Democratic debating commission locked him out of all debates. Anderson was forced to spend his money on buying national tv time after the debates in order to answer the same questions offered to candidates Reagan and Carter.
