Political Contribution Rebates (PCR)

Registered voters in Minnesota have the power to donate to a political party or candidate for State Representative, State Senate, or the state wide offices of Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and State Auditor and have the up to $50.00 refunded each year to them.  A married couple can donate and receive a refund of up to $100.00.

This program is commonly referred to as the PCR program since getting the refund is triggered by the party or candidate issuing a Political Contribution Receipt to the donor who then sends it into the State of MN.  A refund is then issued to donor, thus making the donation actually a short term loan in a sense from the donor's perspective.  This provides a semi public financing of political campaigns.  Why?  Because to qualify for the program, those campaigns and/or political parties have to agree to a series of rules of behavior that encourage clean elections.

The Independence Party is proud to participate in this program and we encourage you to donate at least your rebateable amount to the State Party, your local Independence Party unit, or a candidate of the Independence Party each & every year.
