A New Creationism: Liberal Style

Most of the rhetoric from the hard core left about our currenty economic situation mirrors the idiocy of the far right. One of left's most unique  rhetorical tricks used, however, is a new creationism. This liberal creationism assumes that American problems magically appeared in January, 2001. Which politicians are guilty of it? Any of them who say "we inherited this mess" or "the past eight years".

We know that deficit spending, bad banking deregulation, and poor oversite existed long before January, 2001. Ross Perot based his candidacy on it. In fact, Republicans and Democrats have both admitted that Perot's actions in the 1990's brought back some level of fiscal responsibility (in truth the budget only balanced for two years because of the bubble that later popped).

Was George Bush a bad president? Yes. He spent us into oblivion by trading war votes for pet projects in Congress. Was he different than previous presidents? Not as much as the left would have us believe. He was not the devil incarnate who visited our infant nation on January, 2001.
