Greg McDonald has lived in Minneapolis for 23 years. After years of being a friend to the community and a relentless watchdog for his neighbors, Greg has decided to run for City Council. During a visit to the Kingsfield neighborhood on National Night Out, he heard someone specifically call him a “community activist” and not a Council Member-type person. He immediately thought to himself, "We have 13 wards in Minneapolis ... The job of a council member is to be 'an activist', hands-on, and available to all constituents!" At that point, he knew that running for City Council in Ward 8 was the right decision.
Greg attended the University of Minnesota - Duluth where he received a degree in Theatre Arts. He has worked as a professional actor in the vibrant Minneapolis theater community for 22 years, appearing on several stages including the Guthrie, Fools Tree and Essential Theatre. He also owns a construction company specializing in urban re-development. Greg firmly believes in creating win-win partnerships as a means of community growth and development.
Greg is running for City Council out of concern for his neighborhood. Like many residents, he has seen significant deterioration here and wants this part of south-central Minneapolis to thrive and prosper again. Greg is a firm believer that a council member must be accountable to the people of Minneapolis. He will answer your phone calls and respond to your concerns with action.
Greg promises to serve the residents of Ward 8 as both your neighbor and your partner in good government!
