Presidential Campaigns Apply for IP Endorsement

Five of the seven presidential candidates on the Minnesota ballot have officially applied for IP endorsement. The only two campaigns who have not applied are the Democratic presidential campaign (Obama) and the Socialist Workers Campaign (Calero).

A summary of their responses compared to the Independence Party Platform is now available. Each candidate was asked whether or not they agreed with major sections of the IP platform. An IP committee reviewed their responses and assessed whether their response in fact was aligned with the party platform.

The summary displays both the candidates response and the IP’s assessment of the response.

IP delegates are encouraged to review this information in order to facilitate voting at the endorsing convention this Saturday. The IP convention is being held at Eastview High School in Apple Valley at 12:30pm. Delegates and the public should note that I-35W between I-94 and Hwy 62 is closed this weekend in both directions and plan accordingly. Representatives from each of the five participating campaigns will make a brief presentation to the candidates.
