The Independence Party of Minnesota Will Hold
2008 Presidential Endorsing Convention
Convention will be held on Saturday, October 25th at Eastview High School

On Saturday, October 25, 2008, the Independence Party of Minnesota (MNIP) will convene a convention to vote for an endorsement in the 2008 Presidential campaign. Recently, members of The Independence Party of Minnesota were approached by many of the campaigns to see if the party would officially participate in the presidential race.
“In Minnesota, voter registration is reaching historic levels, which illustrates the high level of interest Minnesotans have in choosing our country’s next President,” said Craig Swaggert, Chairman of the MNIP. “Given the economic circumstances that our nation is facing, we wanted to give the delegates a chance to weigh in on which candidate they feel should lead our country at this critical time in history.”
The decision to weigh in on the 2008 Presidential campaign continues the practice of the Independence Party of Minnesota’s participation in races where they can make a difference. This year, the party cross endorsed two U.S. Congressional Candidates, Elwyn Tinklenberg in the Sixth District and Steve Sarvi in the Second.
The Convention will take place on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 in the auditorium of the Eastview High School. Registration begins at noon. Representatives from the Baldwin, Barr, Calero, McCain, McKinney, Nader and Obama Campaigns are invited to address the delegates. Last week a formal invitation and questionnaire was sent to the seven Presidential campaigns and the completed questionnaires will be distributed to the delegates and posted on the MNIP website prior to the convention for review in the endorsement process.
