The First Tipping Point in the US Senate Race
by Peter Tharaldson
DEAN BARKLEY CLIMBS INTO MID-TEENS: this is a first in any US Senate race and has only been done in one other major race.
September 13, 2008
Senator Dean Barkley has climbed from little support to 8% to just over 14% in a very short time. Unlike the great debate lockout of 2006, Dean will have at least four debates and maybe six. This scenario is about as ideal as possible and is parallel to the 1998 Governor's race.
Al Franken and Senator Coleman continue slinging mud at each other with some of the ugliest commercials Minnesota has seen. From using little children as actors to the old George W. Bush "Freddy" commercial, these two have little, if anything, good to say.
Dean Barkley has been putting out solutions to our nation's problems. As former head of Minnesota Planning he knows the problems we face and the need to fix them now. As a former car wash owner he knows that no amount of soap is going to clean up his two opponents.
It's time to get the sleep out of your eyes, independents. Wake up, cheer up, and get to work! We need to get all our candidates going in a year in which the two big parties are very near to the end of their credibilities.
