1^st Congressional District

The 1st CD has endorsed grain dealer Greg Mikkelson of Lake Crystal in his run for the seat currently held by Democrat Tim Walz.

Steve Sarvi

2^nd Congressional District

Independence's 2nd CD has endorsed DFLer Steve Sarvi in his run against Republican John Kline.  An Iraq war veteran and former city administrator and mayor of Watertown, he's working to move the second district past a politics of fear.

3^rd Congressional District

With the retirment of  Rep. Jim Ramstad, a nine-term Republican, the 3rd Congressional District race is for an open seat this year.  The IP's David Dillon is the Independence Party's endorsed candidate.

Bill McGauhey

5^th Congressional District

The Independence Party has endorsed Bill McGaughey of Minneapolis for the 5th CD US House seat. Bill is a strong advocate of workplace, industrial, and economic reform. He most recently has been active in the property rights cause in Minneapolis and is a strong advocate for affordable housing. Bill has considerable experience in policy development. He collaborated on a book with Senator Eugene McCarthy, " Nonfinancial Economics: The Case for Shorter Hours of Work". Bill also wrote " A U.S.- Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement: Do We Just Say No". This book was well referenced during the NAFTA debate. Bill graduated from Yale with an English degree. In addition to his policy background, he has been an accountant, rental property owner and manager, and a strong advocate for reform in Minneapolis.

6^th Congressional District

The Independence Party has endorsed DFL candidate Elwyn Tinklenberg in his run against freshman Republican incumbent Michele Bachmann in the 6th.
